Vetrasian scientist Mila Groso built a career out of developing cures for the galaxy’s deadliest diseases. The Cure is a suspenseful SF thriller. It has it all: action, teeth-gritting chases, an intriguing story, issues on morality and spirituality, and some really nasty baddies all balled up in the SF world of Vetra. (Which is suspiciously like the same universe Aston West comes from). Without giving away the ending, this book had me wondering what I would've done, if I were in the lead character, Mila's, shoes. Would I resurrect the dead if I had the cure? Or would I let them be? What I can answer, is I recommend this book if you're looking for a fast-paced action-packed thriller that TM Hunter delivers with his usual aplomb!Product details

In a departure from his sci fi action-adventure novels, T.M. Hunter
explores the spiritual / moral /psychological /scientific topic of
death in The Cure. But don't worry, Hunter fans, there's plenty
of action and excitement to be had in this fast paced thriller!
Mila Groso is a Vetrasian scientist whose company finds cures
for catastrophic diseases. She's gathered the best and brightest
scientists and researchers to further her goals and philosophies,
with great success. Mila has more money than she knows what
to do with, thanks to her clear vision and work ethic. But being
a workaholic has its down side. What good are money and success
when you have no one to share it with? Mila's husband and daughter
are dead, attacked and killed by muggers. In an effort to survive
her grief and loss, Mila focuses all her resources on what just might
be her greatest accomplishment resurrecting the dead.
One problem Mila's time is no different than our own. Religious
and moral codes consider resurrection through science blasphemous.
Mila's research team has been hand picked, their work carefully
protected and cloaked in secret, and yet word of Project Genesis
leaks out. First she's accosted by the Guardians -- Protectors of
the Divine Faith -- and told all research related to resurrection must
be destroyed. Then she's marked for death as a heretic by religious
zealots. And finally, a government operative threatens her with death
unless all research related to Project Genesis is turned over to the
Vetrasian government.
Mila's one goal is to resurrect her husband and daughter. But can she
survive angry mobs of zealots out to kill her? Will she escape the
Guardians long enough to accomplish her goal of bringing her family
back to life? Is the government operative friend or foe? And who
among her trusted team of insiders is leaking information to the world?
You'll have to read the book to find out. The plot races to its finale
at break-neck speed and I had to restrain myself to keep from peeking
at the end. Hunter did a great job holding my interest from first page
to last,
Interesting concept. Our heroine, Mila Groso has built a thriving pharmaceutical research facility with her long time schoolmate and friend, Susan. Over the years, the company has produced many vital and important drugs and technologies for society as a whole. The one area they are not allowed to work in, as dictated by the current religiously controlled government, is re-animation of any type. Those found delving into this arena will be quickly extinguished from their post and existence. Mila has no problem adhering to the mandates until tragedy strikes when her husband and daughter are murdered. Will Mila continue to follow the dogma of the government, or will she secretly conduct experiments to revive the dead? That’s the story in a nutshell.
The pros. Mr. Hunter does a good job in keeping the action moving forward with a good relaxing clip.
The cons When it comes to action scenes, I look for believability, and at times, I felt Mila was encountering, situations above and beyond her physical capabilities.
The futuristic scenarios are well planned out and developed. Vey nice.
I found it a bit redundant being reminded why Mila is doing what she’s doing. I believe some of those passages could be eliminated without deterring the story at all.
I found some minor editing issues that did not detract from the story, but when time permits, it wouldn’t hurt to go back and straighten them out.
Who will enjoy this read? Those who enjoy a good futuristic who done it tale.
