Description
Fairy and law enforcement agent, Dulcie O'Neil, finds her life is pretty boring at the moment. Her hunky boyfriend and boss, Knight Vander, is busy setting up the new world order in the Netherworld and hasn’t been around much. Consequently, Dulcie is put in charge of Headquarters for the ANC (Association for Netherworld Creatures). Unfortunately for her, she doesn’t have a whole lot to keep her occupied…
Well, that is, until Jax Rochefort storms into Headquarters and her life. Jax, who’s a member of one of the most infamous illegal potions rings, ups and turns himself in with little to no explanation. Dulcie takes it upon herself to solve the riddle of Jax Rochefort, all the while trying to dodge his obvious advances.
Dulcie learns that the new Netherworld government is threatened by the potions cartels, who wish to see their own in power. Things heat up when Jax kidnaps Dulcie, all the while claiming to be following orders for his mysterious boss.
After discovering that everyone she cares about is directly in the line of fire, Dulcie must do everything in her power to ensure their safety as well as the security of the new Netherworld government.
Reviews
“This book exceeded my expectations! I have never read a book with a fairy cop. This book has goblins, werewolves, Loki's, etc. and a parallel universe! It has everything. If you read this, you will definitely want to read all her other books.” ― Reviewer ★★★★★
“HP can spin a tail! My heart sinks when I realize a book is done. I immediately start to research and figure out when her next one is coming out. So good to read about Bram again.” ― Reviewer ★★★★★

A Midsummer Night Scream An Urban Fantasy/ Paranormal Romance Series The Dulcie O'Neil Series Book 7 eBook HP Mallory
So disappointed that I am actually sad. The LARGE majority of this book is Dulcie dealing with unwanted sexual innuendo. Page after page after page of you are sexy, please have sex. And her getting over the top mad about it.One very odd sex scene that was about dominance, control and possession that I did not care for and then the characters kept REPEATING themselves.
By the end of the book, it was seriously blah blah blah blah zzzzz.
2 plot twists that you saw coming from miles away was at least some saving grace.
I hate to leave bad reviews but I was so excited for this book and it just fell so flat.
I'm sorry but I would not recommend this book.

A Midsummer Night Scream An Urban Fantasy/ Paranormal Romance Series The Dulcie O'Neil Series Book 7 eBook HP Mallory Reviews
I purchased it this morning and have since finished reading it. I have read all the books in the series and have enjoyed them immensely however, this latest book in the series felt rushed and abruptly ends in the twelfth chapter. I understand that cliffhangers are essential in creating interest in future works although this was more of an abrupt end. It felt as though the remaining pages were lost in cyberspace and after unsuccessful attempts to retrieve them someone decided to add To be continued to it and let it fly. It's a fantastic story with brilliant characterization it just fell a little short for me. I do love her work as I own all but possibly 2 of her books in her varied series and continue to be a fan. So, am I impressed with this book? No. Do I feel as though I paid for a full book and only received half of one? Yes. Buyer beware on this, it's NOT a full book. I just wanted to give My honest opinion.
I love this series and was so excited that H.P. continued it. This was a good continuation of the story line although I was disappointed at the lack of interaction between Dulcie and Knight. The ending was definitely a cliff hanger so I can't wait to read the next one.
SPOILER
The one thing I found annoying was that Dulcie had no clue it was Bram behind her kidnapping. I mean, come ON it was so obvious and I thought she was smarter than that! Let's see, a high ranking person in the drug industry who cares about her... Hmm, who could that be?? I figured it out as soon as Jax mentioned he was told to kidnap her to keep her safe (Chapter 7). Who else in the drug industry would have done that?
Overall a worthy addition to the Dulcie series. So excited for the next one!
While I generally enjoy the HP Mallory books, this one was not my favorite. This book was a surprise continuation of a series that wrapped up a few years ago, so I decided to re-read the entire Dulcie O'Neil series as a refresher before starting this book.
The story only takes place over a few days, so most of the awesome characters from the series didn't even make an appearance, only as a passing thought. So much of the book was just dialogue between Dulcie and a male character and his incessant, repetitive, and unnecessary advances. We get it, shes a beautiful woman, the guys like her, but I don't need to hear about all the time. Even one of the scenes with Knight seemed forced and I skimmed through a repetitive conversation of "who's the biggest boss in our relationship." It started getting good and the the story was leading in an exciting direction, but right when it seemed to reach that "OMG I have to know more" moment, it ended abruptly.
I also felt like there were some discrepancies compared to the other books in the series, and please let me know if I just misunderstood something.... Spoilers ahead if you haven't read them
From early on we know that Bram is 300 years old. However, in the 6th book there is a twist where it is revealed that he is actually closer to 700 years old. This 'twist' does not continue in this new book, we go back to saying that Bram is 300.
At the end of the previous book Dulcie and Knight decide to move in together, but in this she was still living at her same old apartment.
Her work vehicle is suddenly a Denali, instead of her bike, or the car she received from her father. Maybe those were sold when she joined the resistance, or they are collecting dust elsewhere.
Another thing that I thought was weird is that Dulcie has troll dolls all over her desk. I could be wrong, but I don't seem to remember her ever having troll dolls. It totally threw me because Dulcie does not seem like the kind of person who would even consider owning a troll.
Even though this book was not my favorite, I am hopeful that the next book will start with a bang and bring back the excitement I felt when reading the other books in the series.
So very very disappointed. Usually I pick up any new stuff that sounds interesting by this author without reading reviews. Never again. The story was a whole lot of very little happening, very predictable about halfway through and then ended in a cliffhanger. Save your money, you can skip this and easily get caught up in everything that happens in the next book with a quick opening paragraph... which will hopefully be much more robust than this one.
Okay I admit to I'm hooked and now I have to wait for book #8 in this series and the next book in the Jolie Wilkins and Bryn and Sinjin series. This is soooo unfair! Beware all new readers, you will get hooked and end up reading every book in the above mentioned series and if you're like me, you'll be deduced to waiting eagerly for your next fix (book) . To sum up, I tried the first Jolie Wilkins book and was hooked, I continued on to the Bryn and Sinjin series. Having read all available books in that series, I started the Dulcie O'Neil series. I wasn't sure at first but .... Yes I got hooked on this series too. Now I'm forced to wait for the next book in all three of these series. Help!!!!
So disappointed that I am actually sad. The LARGE majority of this book is Dulcie dealing with unwanted sexual innuendo. Page after page after page of you are sexy, please have sex. And her getting over the top mad about it.
